Meeting a legend

We had the pleasure of meeting Willie O’Ree at the 2018 NHL All-Star games in Tampa, Florida. Known as the “Jackie Robinson of ice hockey”, Willie O’Ree, is known for being the first black player in the National Hockey League when he joined the Boston Bruins on Jan. 18, 1958. He played in 45 NHL games with a total of 4 goals and 10 assists. Willie O’Ree, 82, was honored as the Community Hero of the game during Sundays All-Star game held at Amelia Arena. He was given a cheque for $100,00 to NHL’s Hockey is for everyone program. Gary, from Pro Net Sports was lucky enough to get a picture with this hockey legend.
